The Engine Specifications

The I-16 was a development of GE's I-A which, in turn was a copy of Whittle's W.1.  Designed to deliver 1,600 lbs thrust, the I-16 was first run in 1943.  By the end of the war, a jet engine designation system had been developed by the U.S. Military and the I-16 became the J31.
